HISTORY

The David Millard practice was set up in 2005 when the Richmond Osteopathic and Sports Clinic expanded to include Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Sports Medicine and Sports Massage. Originally a PE teacher and professional Rugby player, David Millard was first introduced to Osteopathy when a back injury failed to respond to conventional treatment. “I was amazed at how effective Osteopathy was and liked the idea of treating the person as a whole.”

He went on to complete a degree in Osteopathy at the British School of Osteopathy in 1992 and set up the Richmond Osteopathic and Sports Clinic in 1996 when he was appointed Chief Medical Officer to London Scottish Rugby Club. It was here that he developed his skills and knowledge in Sports Medicine.

When the London Scottish professional club folded in 1999, he became National Lead Osteopath for BUPA Wellness Musculoskeletal Medicine at the Barbican where he continued his interest in Sports Medicine, being selected for the GB Paralympic Medical Team for both Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 as well as working part time with Watford F.C. and to two West End shows, “Chicago” and ”Fosse”.

As well as his role as National Lead Osteopath for BUPA Wellness, he also currently works part time as Consultant Osteopath to Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and since 2004 has been Consultant Osteopath to the All England Tennis Championships at Wimbledon.

As a result of his experiences working in elite Sports Medicine and in arguably the best Musculoskeletal clinic in London, David has come to realize that the best approach to Musculoskeletal medicine is an integrated, multidisciplinary approach, bringing together experts from various fields to provide the best possible care for his patients.

He has therefore expanded and renamed the practice the David Millard practice to reflect this. While maintaining our high levels of professionalism and care in Osteopathy, our aim is to provide the same level of care for all our patients as is experienced by elite sportsmen and women, and as such we have recruited practitioners in Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Sports Medicine who are all familiar with working at the highest levels in their chosen field.
